On Sunday, August 2, 2020, at Otago Community Hospice, with family by his side, aged 70 years, after a battle with cancer. Dearly loved husband and best friend to Christine for 40 wonderful years. Much loved Dad to Simon, Anna and Sarah and their partners; Hana Phillips, Rob Smith and father-in-law of Stuart Munro and loved granddad of Matilda and Harry. Sincere thanks go out to all who assisted with Chris’s care in the last few months of his life, including staff of the Oncology Dept, Wards 4B & 8C and of the Otago Community Hospice. Passed away suddenly at Dunedin Hospital on Thursday, July 30, 2020, in his 63rd year. Loved son of the late Phillip and Patricia Fitzgerald, and brother of Ash, and Kevin (dec). GIBSON, William Robert (Bill):
21.8.1929 – 3.8.2020
Passed away peacefully at Dunedin Hospital. Loved husband of the late Phyl. Bill was loved, respected and admired by his family and many friends, he was the loved father and father-in-law of Erica and Brent Allen, John, Jude and Mike Greer, grandfather of Liz and Angus, and Tori; Keyten and Sonoko, Joel and Carlene; and Max, great-grandfather of Fuschia, and Knox. Bill was proud of his ability to live in his own home until very recently and keep his independence with limited support from others. The family appreciate the support of the staff at the Mosgiel Medical Centre and latterly the Dunedin Hospital. Bill will be farewelled in Campbell and Sons Chapel, 95 Gordon Road, Mosgiel, at 10.30am, on Friday, August 7. Passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 1, 2020, at Hospice Southland. Aged 87 years. Dearly loved and devoted husband of Margaret. Much loved father and father-in-law of Elaine McEvoy and Russell Paterson; Jo and the late Grenville Robinson; Lyndal Robinson; Craig and Jackie Robinson; and Paul and Jill Robinson. Adored Grandad of Nick and Caitlin; Hannah, Elliot and Leah; Maggie and Isla; Eve, Scarla and Theo; and Great-Grandad of Niamh. Much loved son of Harry and Minnie Robinson*. Of Clyde, formerly of Dunedin (Ross and Homer Windows). Passed peacefully in the Palliative Care Unit, Dunstan Hospital, with his family by his side. Lex fought a long hard fight with humour and determination as we knew he would. Cherished husband of Marian, dearly loved Dad and Dad-in-law of Karen and Stewart MacLeod, Heather and Geoff Bates, and “Dad” of Michael Cranstoun and Michelle (all of Dunedin). Wonderful and dearly loved Grandad and Great-Grandad of Bridget, Andy, and expected baby Harris (Edinburgh); Catriona MacLeod* and Siobhan MacLeod and Mathew Cochrane (London); Samantha, John and Sophie McAtamney (Maniototo) and Joshua Bates and Olivia Brock (Dunedin); Renee and Jaimee Cranstoun (Dunedin). Of Cromwell formerly of Milton. Dad passed away suddenly at Dunstan Hospital on Friday, July 31, 2020, aged 79 years. He was a much loved husband of the late Corinne, and adored father and father-in-law of Kevin and Helen (Australia), Janne and Paul Wallace (Dunedin). Loved Grandad of Caitlyn and Alex Swinney, Elsie, Greta and Oliver Wallace.
