Sadly passed away at the Christchurch Hospital on Monday, May 16, 2022 due to complications after a fall at his home in Tinwald, a week prior. A dearly beloved husband of the late Ursula, loved father and father-in-law of Stephen and Janine, Carrie (Caroleen) and Cheryl, Sharon and Albert, Pip (Philippa) and John. Cherished Pop of Kate, Dylan, Bec, Ethan, Jess, Lauren, Alicia, Aalia, Jaydan, Harrison, and Koby, and his 6 great-grandchildren. A special friend and mentor to Chris, and friend to many. Your visits, phone calls, expressions of sympathy, cards, flowers, baking during her stay in hospital, and after her death were overwhelming and a great comfort to us all. There are a lot of people that assisted mum near the end of her life that we would like to thank including, Mataura Medical Centre for your ongoing care, all of the staff at Dunedin, Burwood, Invercargill, and Gore Hospitals as well as the patient staff at Resthaven in Gore. In her final farewell we would like to thank the Mataura Presbyterian Church congregation and Rev Tau Ben-Unu for the lovely service, Margaret Allan for playing mum’s special hymns, and Janice Taylor for the bagpipe tribute.
