It is with our deepest sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Doctor John Richard Doody, Director and Veterinarian of Waikiwi Vet Services, Invercargill who tragically passed away in peace on Monday the 10th of January, 2022. John will be heartbrokenly missed, beyond words by his deeply adored and dearly loved best friend and partner of 15 years Melissa Crennan, dearly adored and deeply loved son of John and Mary Doody, dearly adored and deeply loved brother of Eucharia Doody, dearly adored and deeply loved by his close relatives in Ireland, dearly adored and deeply loved by his extended family in Invercargill, Southland, Wellington, Nelson and Sydney Australia. Devoted Nana to Matt, Sarah and Josh. Great-nana to her six great-grandchildren, and her many nieces and nephews. A great friend to many. Lois’s family wish to sincerely thank all those who acknowledged her passing. Thank you for all the messages, phone calls, cards and flowers, baking, meals, visits and support during Lois’s illness, final days and after her passing. To those who attended the service under difficult circumstances we are grateful and thanks to all those who took the time to watch the live stream. We know Lois would have loved being the star of her own TV special. A huge thank you to the staff at Clare House whose wonderful care meant the world to Lois and to us as a family. We are most grateful she was able to spend her last days with you in her own room surrounded by those who had been there with her during happier days when she enjoyed sharing a joke with you. Thank you to Rebecca from Hospice Southland who helped make this happen and for supporting the staff in keeping Lois comfortable. Thank you to Dr Stout for overseeing Lois’s medical needs and for being a friend she truly admired. Many thanks to Avenal Park Funeral Home for caring for Lois and guiding us after her passing. Thank You Lynley McKerrow for leading the wonderful service for Lois and to Peter Noble for joining the family for Lois’s committal at the cemetery.
