It is with great sadness that the family of Gus wish to inform everyone that Gus passed away in Dunedin Hospital after a very short illness, surrounded by his family, on Friday, October 7, 2022. In his 78th year. Dearly loved and respected husband and best friend of Adrienne. Highly regarded and loved father, father-in-law and grandad of Heather, Craig, Sienna and Maddie McLeod (Auckland); Bronwyn McAllister and partner Brad Walker (Perth W.A); Duncan, Caedyn and Macey McAllister (Gore); Friend to Gloria McAllister. Loved eldest son of the late Rosie and David McAllister and son-in-law of the late Nessie and Joe Dunstan. Much loved and respected brother, and brother-in-law of Jim and the late Alison McAllister (Wyndham), Harvey and Linda Dunstan (Mataura), Lloyd and Jo Dunstan (Mount Maunganui), the late Ashley and Ewen Dunstan, loved uncle of his nieces and nephews and also cousins.

A service to celebrate Gus’ life will be held at the Mataura Rugby Clubrooms, Main Street, Mataura, on Thursday, October 13 at 1.00pm, followed by private family interment at Mataura Cemetery. Flowers respectfully declined, but donations may be left at the service for the Cancer Society.
