A private farewell was held at the Hakataramea Cemetery.

DUSTON, Jessie Elizabeth:
Peacefully at Southland Hospital, on Wednesday, June 3, 2020. Dearly loved wife of Les for 39 years. Younger daughter of the late Thomas and Jessie Pinkney. Loved sister of Marion Pinkney. Loved sister-in-law of Dave and Lois, Herb and Carole, Gordon and Sally. Loved aunt to her nieces and nephews. A service to celebrate Jessie’s life will be held in J Fraser and Sons Chapel, cnr Esk and Doon Streets, on Monday, June 8, at 1.30pm. Interment at Eastern Cemetery to follow. HERBERT, Desmond Melvin (Des):
Unexpectedly at home on Monday, June 1, 2020, aged 72 years. Proud father of Leigh and Colin (Gore), Jo and Sean (West Melton), Niki and Grant (Melbourne), and number one supporter of his grandchildren; Drew, Kirby, Lisa; Charlie, Logan; and Brooklyn. Des will be resting at home, until Friday, for those who wish to pay their respects. On Friday a private graveside service will take place with a memorial service to be held at a later date. JOHNSON, Thelma Ruby:
Peacefully, at Albany House Rest Home, Gore, on Wednesday, June 3, 2020, aged 88 years. Dearly loved wife of the late Ray, loved partner of Arthur Gray, loved and respected mother, mother-in-law and grandmother of Yvonne and Neil, Nathan (Mataura), Colin (Invercargill); John and Margaret (Invercargill), Thelma and Jason (Rolleston), Shaun and Anita (Invercargill), and Nana of all her grandchildren. Special thank you to Albany House staff for their ongoing care. A service to celebrate Thelma’s life will be held in the Mataura Presbyterian Church, 60 Kana Street, on Saturday, June 6, at 10.30am, followed by interment at Mataura Cemetery. Peacefully, surrounded by her loving family in Invercargill, on Wednesday June 3, 2020. In her 80th year. Dearly loved wife of the late Evan. Cherished mother and mother-in-law of David and Charlotte Syme (Christchurch), Russell and Tracey Syme (Auckland), Raewyn and Philip Brown (Invercargill), Kerrie and David Chisholm (Queenstown), and loving grandmother of Kathryn and Brett, Danielle and Daniel, Elliot, Travis and Nickie, Ashleigh and Jordan, Courtney, Hannah, Zara, Michael, Campbell, and Matthew and loving great-grandmother of Ben, Mac and Peyton. Loved sister and sister-in-law of Shona and Jim Hall. Loved aunt of Caley and Jo. Loved step-mother of Deborah, Dale, Janine, Krista, Nigel, Chad and their families. A family service to celebrate Mairi’s life will be held on Saturday, June 6. MUDIE, Victor Wallace:
Family and friends, it’s with great sadness, that after a short illness with his family by his side, Wally passed away on Sunday. Dearly loved husband and best friend of Elva for 55 years. Much loved father and father in law of Leanne and Todd Sangster, Alana Turnhout and partner Nigel, and his son Ryan Mudie. Adored grandfather of Jacob, Jack, and Costa. As per Wally’s wishes, a family service has been held. A celebration of Wally’s life will take place June 26 th at
