MADDEN, Shona Marie (nee Hawke):
This proud Bluffy – and former Bluff Town Cryer – died peacefully at Calvary Hospital on October 25, 2022, aged 78, after a very long, hard battle. Dearly loved partner of Bill (Sox) Johnston; beloved Mum (and mother-in-law) of Jude and Darren Brown, Peter and Gaylene Madden, and Lisa Madden. Loved sister of Bev Christiansen, Bid Watson and Val Robinson. Loved and respected by Bill’s family: Diane, Helena, Darryl, Nigel, and Raymond and their families. And special sister-in-law of Glenis Penny. Loved so much by all her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Very special thanks to a dear family friend Ursula, for all her help and support. Special thanks to all the fabulous nurses and staff at Calvary for their stellar care of Shona. Their respect, care and professionalism was very much appreciated by us all. Thanks also to the wonderful ladies at Hospice for all the care they showed to Shona and Bill and her family. A big thank you to staff at Avenal Park Funeral Home. A service for Shona will be held at the Southland Crematorium in Invercargill at 10.30am on Saturday, October 29, followed by afternoon tea at the Bluff RSA at 1.00pm. MADDEN, Shona Marie (nee Hawke):
My dear Mum is now resting in peace after a “relentless effort” over the past 18 months. She was loved dearly by her “Favourite son-in-law” Darren Brown, who will miss his “Favourite Bluff Mum” a lot. And always love and respect from grandson Robert, great-granddaughter Nirvana, and great-grandsons Drake and Cade (who dedicated their basketball games to great-Nan on the 25th). Thanks must go to the nurses and staff at Calvary; they are the best. The laughter, hugs, cups of tea, “hand-made ice cream”, professionalism, care and compassion meant the world to me and to Mum.
Mum, I love you
Always have, Always will
Rest now
Jude xxx.
