Cruise 4 Care has successfully raised $30,000 through its recent “Night Out for Hospice” fundraiser, held on Saturday in Invercargill. The event featured Kiwi motorsport legend Greg Murphy, who drew a strong crowd, ensuring a successful evening that will support the services provided by Hospice Southland.
The funds raised will be directed towards providing free palliative care and family support to the Southland community. Hospice Southland helps patients and families navigate end-of-life care with comfort and dignity.
Event organiser Kevin Muir expressed his appreciation for the generous turnout. “We are incredibly humbled by the generosity of the Southland community. The funds raised will make a significant impact on the lives of so many people and their families. We’re grateful to everyone who attended, supported, and contributed to making this event a huge success,” Muir said.
Murphy, the star of the evening, shared his own appreciation for the cause. “It was a privilege to attend the event and to help support such an amazing organisation that does incredible work. Well done to the fundraising team that put on such an enjoyable night.”
Hospice Southland CEO Flora Gilkison was equally moved by the event’s success. “It was a marvellous evening. The crowd reached deep into their pockets and we are so grateful. It was wonderful having Greg Murphy support the work we do.” She added that Cruise 4 Care’s continued support has been invaluable to the organisation.
Looking ahead, Cruise 4 Care’s final fundraising event of the year, the Cruise 4 Hospice Poker Run, will take place on 16 November. More details can be found on the Cruise 4 Care Facebook page. Following the event, the final donation amount for Hospice Southland will be announced.
