An Invercargill technology company has gained international recognition after receiving a major industry award at a regional partner event in Australia.

Focus Technology Group (NZ) Limited was named Approved Partner of the Year at the Eaton Partner Awards held in Sydney on 5 March 2026. The award celebrates outstanding partners working with global power management company Eaton across the Asia-Pacific region.

The recognition reflects the company’s strong performance during the past year, including reported growth of 26 percent. The award also acknowledges partners who demonstrate high standards in collaboration, innovation, and customer outcomes while delivering reliable infrastructure solutions for businesses.

Focus Technology Group provides technology services and infrastructure support to organisations across the South Island. Its work includes helping businesses maintain reliable systems, improve security, and adopt technology that supports long-term growth.

Chief Executive Brendon McDermott said the award highlights both the dedication of the company’s team and the strength of its relationships with partners and customers.

“This award reflects the dedication of our team and the relationships we’ve built with our partners and clients. We’re grateful to Eaton for the collaboration and proud to represent our region on an international stage.”

The Eaton Partner Awards recognise organisations that deliver strong results while helping customers improve the reliability and resilience of their technology environments. Partners from across the Asia-Pacific region are assessed on their performance, collaboration with Eaton, and ability to support businesses through modern infrastructure and power management solutions.

Representatives from Focus Technology Group attended the awards event in Sydney to receive the recognition. Chief Executive Brendon McDermott and Central Otago Branch Manager Dan Messingham accepted the award on behalf of the company. They were joined at the event by Eaton representatives Andrew Khan and Gavin Swadling.

For the South Island company, the award also reflects the value of building strong partnerships with global technology providers. By working closely with industry leaders such as Eaton, the company aims to deliver reliable and resilient systems that help organisations operate smoothly and confidently.

Founded in Invercargill more than three decades ago, Focus Technology Group has steadily expanded its presence across the South Island. The company now operates seven branches and employs more than 80 staff, providing services including managed IT support, cybersecurity, business systems assistance, cloud solutions, and technology consulting.

Despite its growth, the organisation continues to focus on supporting local businesses and helping them navigate the demands of an increasingly digital operating environment.
