Rugby Southland has confirmed the popular ILT Fireworks Spectacular will return in 2025, lighting up the sky after the SBS Bank Southland Stags’ home game against Manawatū at Rugby Park Stadium. Scheduled for Friday, August 15, the match begins at 7.10pm, with the fireworks set to launch around 8.45pm, immediately after full-time.

Thanks to ongoing support from ILT, the event is free for all ticket holders. This year’s edition promises to be the biggest yet, with an enhanced display choreographed to music for a fully immersive experience inside the stadium.

“This is shaping up to be one of the biggest nights of our season,” said Rugby Southland Head of Commercial and Business Development Jack King. “With a crucial game against Manawatū and a fireworks show that’s even bigger than last year’s, it’s a full evening of fun for all ages – and we’re proud to offer it as part of your regular game ticket. A huge thanks to ILT for their ongoing support and for helping us deliver such an unforgettable experience for our community.”

ILT has fully funded the show, making it part of the regular match-day package. Adult tickets cost $20, with a family-friendly deal that lets two children aged 13 and under enter free with each paying adult.

“The ILT Fireworks Spectacular is all about bringing the community together and creating memories,” said ILT President Paddy O’Brien. “Rugby Park under lights, with the Stags in action and fireworks overhead – it doesn’t get much better. We’re proud to play a part in delivering an experience the whole region can enjoy.”

If bad weather or other circumstances prevent the event on the scheduled date, the reserve date is set for Friday, September 26, during the Stags’ home game against Tasman.

A packed stadium, top-tier rugby, and a choreographed fireworks show make this a standout evening on the local calendar. Tickets are now available through Ticketek and the Civic Theatre.
