Early this morning, firefighters responded to a machinery fire at the Freight Haulage depot near Bluff Road, effectively containing and extinguishing the blaze within a few hours.
At approximately 8 a.m. emergency services received a call reporting a fire involving a piece of machinery. Responding promptly, a fire truck from Kingswell and two additional trucks from Invercargill Station were dispatched to the scene.
A Fire & Emergency spokeswoman provided details on the incident: “By 8:30 a.m., the firefighters had successfully contained the fire. The blaze involved a conveyor belt, requiring thorough inspection to ensure the fire had not spread to other areas.”
The firefighting efforts continued until 9:30 a.m., when the fire was fully extinguished. No injuries have been reported, and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
