Multiple fire crews responded to the scene, working throughout the night to control the blaze. By just after 1am on Wednesday morning, the fire had been contained. However, it continued to burn and remained out of control during the day.

The fire is estimated to have covered around five hectares. Crews stayed on site to monitor the situation, with rain forecast for Thursday expected to assist in fully extinguishing the fire.
Fire and Emergency said the fire was likely started by fireworks. They reminded the public to be cautious about where and when they choose to set off fireworks.
“It’s disappointing to see people setting fireworks off when it is windy, and people should never be setting fireworks off where there is flammable vegetation around,” a spokesperson said.
