A public funeral service to honour the life and legacy of Sir Tim Shadbolt will be held at Invercargill’s Civic Theatre next Friday. Sir Tim, who served as Invercargill’s longest-standing Mayor and was knighted in 2019, passed away on Thursday, 8 January, aged 78.

The service will take place on Friday, 16 January, starting at 2pm. It is open to the public, offering residents and admirers a chance to pay their respects to a figure who played a major role in local government and community life.

For those unable to attend in person, the funeral will be livestreamed on Sir Tim’s tribute page at Frasers Funerals webiste frasersfunerals.co.nz/tributes. The Invercargill City Council will also stream the service live on its official YouTube channel. Read Sir Tim's funeral notice.

Following the public ceremony, a private celebration and interment will be held for family and close friends at Invercargill’s Eastern Cemetery.
