The 2023 Murihiku Christmas Tree Festival at ILT Stadium Southland is in its final week, just as we head into Christmas and count down our final days of the year.
Hannah Lane, who is one of the co-ordinators of the festival, said this year 30 businesses have signed up to be involved, and all have chosen wonderful charities to support.
Opening to the public tomorrow night from 4:00pm till 8:00pm, the public is invited to get into the Christmas spirit and come along to view the displays – right up until the 21st of December.
The festival is proudly presented by the Waihopai City Lions Club, who have been funded for the community event by the ILT Foundation and Community Trust Southland.
“The Murihiku Christmas Tree Festival has been the highlight of the festive season for many years at ILT Stadium Southland.”
Thousands of people enjoy the festival every year, and also have the opportunity to vote for their favourites, as decorated by local participating businesses.
Every dollar that was raised from the festival would be returned to the community through Waihopai City Lions Club’s projects, and proceeds from the festival would also go towards the top three businesses and their chosen charities.
The opening hours are Monday to Friday 4:00pm until 8:00pm Saturday and Sunday 10:00am until 4:00pm, with gold coin entry – which gives people a voting ticket.
“This magical festival also includes activities for the tamariki such as festive colouring in and writing a letter to Santa.”
