Updated: I spoke to the president of Ferrari Owners Club Of New Zealand Terry Dykes about his 2021 SF90 most powerful Ferrari built to-date. Watch the video below. Mike.
Some of the fastest sports cars in New Zealand will be making their way south today as part of the Ferrari Owners Club Of New Zealand tour.
Every fourth year the group holds its Annual Meeting in the South Island, and for 2023 they decided to have it in Invercargill, incorporating a nine-day Grande Giro del Sud [Tour] of the South Island.
Beginning in Blenheim, traveling down the West Coast and arriving in Invercargill, the 40 cars will be available for viewing at the Queen’s Park band rotunda on Saturday between 1:30pm and 2:30pm.
They will also be having some track time at Teretonga in the morning, and once leaving the city will make their way north up the East Coast and concluding in Kaikoura.
Amongst the models on display will be Ferrari’s new Hybrid SF90 Stradale 986hp turbo V8 with 3 electric motors, that goes from 0 to 100 km in just two seconds.
Southern member Ken Muir, of Gore, said people shouldn’t be shy at going over to the drivers and talking to them about their pride and joy, as they are all real enthusiasts.
The group was formed in 1986 and the majority of club members were from the North Island, with Christchurch the only Southern city with a branch.
But Ken said he was surprised to hear there were also three or four owners floating around Invercargill as well.
“Ferrari’s have always been fast, there’s no doubt about that,” he said.
