The prize combines $4 million from Powerball First Division and $333,333 from Lotto First Division, ensuring the winner ends the year as a multi-millionaire.
Meanwhile, Invercargill is celebrating its own success, with a ticket sold at Plaza Supervalue winning $1 million in Lotto NZ’s "biggest Christmas ever" promotion.
The Dunedin win marks the twenty-third Powerball multi-millionaire of 2024 and follows a $5.3 million win in Auckland on Christmas Day.
Two other Lotto First Division prizes, each worth $333,333, were also claimed in the latest draw. These tickets were sold at Fresh Choice Mangere Bridge in Auckland and New World Bishopdale in Christchurch.
Adding to the excitement, 100 other players from across New Zealand scored $50,000 each in Lotto NZ’s Christmas promotion. Lotto NZ encouraged all players who entered the Christmas promotion to check their tickets to see if they’re among the winners.
One of Twenty lucky Lotto players will be celebrating after each winning $16,167 with Lotto Second Division with a Southland winner via Mylotto.
