The Drift South Series visits Teretonga Park in Invercargill on Saturday for the first time in six years.

Approximately 35 cars are expected for a day of exciting drifting action on New Zealand’s southernmost motor race circuit for Round 1 of the 2017/2018 Drift South season.

Two classes will feature – the Pro Drift Class, where drivers drive door to door in drift battles, plus the Development Series which is for beginner drivers and cars with no roll cage.

West Coaster Daniel Currie in his Nissan Silvia S15 was the 2016/2017 season champion ahead of Sheldon Kneale of Ashburton (Nissan 180SX) and both will compete at Teretonga Park on Saturday.

Local drivers, Scott Welsh and Bradley Knight will both drive Nissan Skyline’s in the Pro Class.

The action will begin at 10am on Saturday. Admission is just $15 per person while children 14 and under are free.

Further rounds of the Drift South Series will be held in Christchurch and Timaru throughout the season.
