X Factor Cars Riverside Speedway will burst back into life again this Saturday night as the 2019/20 Speedway season gets underway.

The club will host its first ever Duratec Construction Demolition Derby Teams Race, winners get bragging rights of being the first name etched onto a very impressive trophy as well as a share of the $2000 prize pool.

Teams are made up of five cars and the ultimate goal is not just to win the race but eliminate the opposition team in the process. This should ensure some fantastic edge of your seat racing for the punters.

There is also double points across all grades, this is vital for those drivers who are consistent and chase the overall annual points trophy at the end of the season, an early points buffer on your rivals will come in hand late in the year.

Good fields of cars are expected with a number of Cromwell and Dunedin drivers expressing early interest in attending this meeting, Streetstocks, Stockcars, Youth Saloons, Saloons, Six Shooters, Modified Sprints and Sprintcars are all expected to be on the grid.

It has been a disruptive start to the season with torrential rain over the last few weeks making it difficult for track Manager Trevor Black to lay a decent surface. At practice two weeks ago the drivers could only use half the width of the track to practice on, but feedback from drivers was that the surface was great, all going to plan the weather gods will play their part in the lead up.

The club has moved with the times this season and managed to get eftpos terminals at all the gates, in the past they have been hindered with poor internet connection but they have invested resources into getting enough to successfully run eftpos machines at the gates, these will be for entry only, food vendors will still be cash only.

There has been a number of projects taken place since the end of last season, the majority of the arena fence has been replaced, the corporate area is still under completion and a new bar area constructed in the clubrooms. Kathy Crockett has made massive inroads into a number of initiatives the club has planned in the coming few seasons, including a new control tower and toilet / kitchen block at the clubrooms.

This meeting will be an alcohol free event, so none on the premises at all, this will also be the case at the ILT Foundation Fireworks Extravaganza which will take place on November 2nd.

Gates open to this event at midday with the first race scheduled to get underway at 2pm, Adults $15, Children $5, under 5 free.
