Demolition Work Starts On Former Salvation Army Building

Here’s a busy city intersection that is in the process of change.
Demolition work has started on what was the Salvation Army Citadel on the Tay / Conon St corner.

The Salvation Army sold this site to FoodStuffs who operate then neighbouring Pak N Save supermarket and have moved to new base on Victoria Ave.

While this building is not that old, the site has some history as the “Sallies” have called this corner home for a hundred years or so.

Who remembers the old shoe shop that was on the corner ?
