Following feedback from the post-Corporate Pursuit survey, Cycling Southland is introducing a coached six-session adult racing programme.

Running on Monday nights from 5.45pm from August 20, the hour-long sessions will teach basic track racing skills and provide development for those keen to start racing but unsure where to begin.

Run by Cycling New Zealand-qualified coach Lance Spencer, participants will develop track confidence, learn to ride in bunches, build strength and endurance, and learn the basics of various types of racing.

Completing these sessions, which are designed as a foundation skills developer, will enable licensed riders to then take part in Friday night club racing and move into senior rider squads – sprint or endurance.

Those keen to take part need basic track skills gained through Track Start sessions on a Wednesday night or having taken part in Corporate Pursuit. A minimum level of ability is the confidence to comfortably ride all areas of the track at pace.

Spaces are limited but minimum numbers are required so contact Melissa in the office to reserve your spot. The block is $65 with own bike, $80 with bike hire.
