The sight and sound of the Formula 1 Ferrari 412T1B V12 plus the 3-seater Arrows AX3 was a highlight for many at Teretonga this weekend. With much needed rain falling on Saturday (great for farmers not so for expensive F1 cars) the cars did not run on Saturday but on Sunday the shrill tones of the Ferrari V12 and the Arrows’ Hart V10 3-seater complete with passengers aboard, delighted the large crowd with their demonstration laps at the 2015 Evolution Motorsport Classic SpeedFest.

Meanwhile the racing action was superb with another line up of exciting cars in the hands of kiwi and international drivers.
The Formula Junior cars and the Vintage Racing cars ran together in the AJ Auto Electrical races. David Innes of the UK (Lotus 27) and Bruce Edgar of Australia (Elfin) shared the Formula Junior honours on Saturday before another Australian, Neil McCrudden won the first on Sunday in his Lotus before Innes took the final two.
In the Sievwright Auto’s Vintage Racing Cars, Paul Coghill (Jaguar Special) won Saturday’s first race from fellow Dunedin driver Martin Dippie in an Austin Healey with the order reversed in the second. On Sunday Coghill won all three races from Dippie.

John Williams of Christchurch in his Crossle FF2000 and Dave McKenzie of Invercargill (Reynard 84F) had some close tussles in the Macaulay Ford Formula Libre Class. Williams won in the dry on Saturday and McKenzie in the wet. Trevor Earley of Invercargill picked up a second placing and the impressive Ethan Anderson of Riverton, two thirds. Williams won all three on Sunday, the first from McKenzie and Steve Heffernan of Invercargill, the next from McKenzie after an epic battle while Lance Carwarding of Australia in a Brabham BT23 was third. Williams won the last after chasing down McKenzie on the last lap.
In the Southland Tyre Centre Sports Cars Stuart Black of Dunedin (Porsche 944) won Saturday’s race from David Robertson of Invercargill in an ACE Buckler. On Sunday morning John Osborne of Christchurch (Nissan 300ZX) headed home Black and did so again later in the morning only to be relegated to third behind Black and Bryan Rusbatch of Dunedin (Porsche) after a 10 second time penalty for jumping the start. Osborne bounced back to win the last two from Rusbatch and Black.
Allan Dippie of Dunedin in a MGB GTV8 and Jim Wallace of Cairns in a BMW shared Saturday’s wins in the Professionals Real Estate Classic Saloons with Rodger Cunninghame of Invercargill third in both in his Ford Shelby Mustang. On Sunday morning Grant Constable of Alexandra in his Datsun 240Z won from Steve Scoles of Outram in a Triumph TR7 and Dippie. Sunday afternoon saw Scoles take one after Constable went off the circuit from Dippie and Paul Burnet of Auckland in a Torana GTR XU1. Constable came back to win the last after catching Scoles with a lap to go.
In the Jesco’s Historic Touring Cars Arron Black of Dunedin and Kevin Underwood of Auckland took a win apiece in their BMW’s on Saturday while Conrad Timms of Auckland won on Sunday morning from Underwood and Black. On Sunday afternoon Stephen Grellet of Dunedin in a BMW won from Timms and Gary Wilkinson of Christchurch in his Zakspeed Escort. The final race produced another win for Grellet from Timms and Allan Dippie in his Rover Vitesse.
In the Pre 65 Saloons Wayne Tuffley of Invercargill in a Ford Mustang headed home fellow Southlander John Smolenski in Saturday’s race. The following day he pipped Barry Morgan of Wanaka on the line from a handicap start with Greg Stewart of Castlerock in another Mustang third. Morgan just held out Tuffley in the next handicap race before Dan Patrick of Christchurch in a PB Vauxhall won the final handicap event from Jono Michelle in a Cortina with Greg Stewart picking up his third podium finish of the day.
Inky Tulloch of Gore and his Camaro GT3 were the class of the Noel McIntyre Drainage Clubmans Series field. Tulloch made a clean sweep of the five races winning on Saturday from Dunedin drivers Brian Scott and Jamie Hodgins. On Sunday morning he crossed the line ahead of Scott and impressive young NZV8 Touring Car driver Liam MacDonald of Invercargill. It was the same result later in the morning before he won the handicap race, starting almost a full lap behind the first car. He passed Southland Sports Car Club President Dean Maw on the last lap to win with Jason Crosbie third. Tulloch scorched away to win the Flying Farewell from MacDonald in his less sophisticated V8 with Martin Dippie third.
