UPDATE: Road Now Open
A crash has closed part of State Highway 6 in Southland. The affected stretch lies between Branxholme-Makarewa Road and Ryal Bush-Wallacetown Road. Drivers are being urged to avoid the area while emergency services respond to the incident.

Detours:
Light vehicles can follow a detour using North Makarewa-Grove Bush Road and Branxholme-Makarewa Road. Heavy vehicles and HPMV traffic are being redirected via State Highway 99 and Ryal Bush-Wallacetown Road.

Motorists are asked to drive carefully and allow extra time for their journey. Authorities have not yet said when the highway will reopen.
