Minister of Heath Chris Hipkins and Director of Public Health Caroline McElnay are giving an update on Covid-19 in New Zealand.

- Chris Hipkins and Director of Public Health Caroline McElnay will be providing today’s update. They’re due to speak shortly.
- Dr McElnay says there are seven new confirmed cases of Covid-19 – one is imported.
- The other sixes cases are in the community and have all been linked to the Auckland cluster.
- One is a student at Mt Albert Grammar – he hasn’t been at school since 12 August.
- 2455 close cases have been identified, 2404 of these have been contacted.
- Ten people are in Hospital. Two in Auckland, four in Middlemore, three at North Shore, and one in Waikato. One person in Middlemore and one at North Shore are in ICU.
- The total number of confirmed case of Covid-19 is now 1351.
- There are now eight people associated with the Mt Roskill church.
- Three of the cases from the church have been genomically linked the Auckland community cluster.
