This sound cine film was taken at Teretonga Park, Invercargill at the first ever Country Gentlemen’s Race Meeting in New Zealand open to the general public.

The race programme consisted of six races of classic cars for the Country Gentlemen and six for the Southland Sports Car Club. Included in the races were Jaguars, Porsches, Lotuses, a Ferrari, and a beautifully restored Allard J2 belonging to motor enthusiast Rob Boult, then of Invercargill.

While these races proved rather difficult to film effectively the sounds of classic engines under power should make up for any shortcomings.
