Now that I’m on council, I would like feedback on whether there is any other facility you would like us (ICC) to close before we start to digest how we can re open any of the following list:

  • Andesons Park – closed for 4-5 years with no resolution
  • Museum – closed for 2 years with no resolution
  • The observatory closed with no resolution
  • Water Tower – closed with no resolution
  • Rugby Park – parts now closed for two Mitre 10 seasons
  • Splash Palace Hydroslide – now ‘on hold’Stead Street wharf – closed with no resolution
  • Oreti Beach – a proposal to close part or all the beach to vehicles

But to give a balanced perspective, we are close to completing the Chinese garden after 4 years even though nobody wanted it.
