Invercargill City Councillor Ian Pottinger is in Christchurch hospital recovering after surgery to remove pressure from a brain bleed.

Ian had been suffering from headaches the previous week and went to his doctor who arranged a CT scan, which then lead to him being helicoptered to Christchurch last Friday, 5th August.

His wife Alice Pottinger said Ian is making a speedy recovery and looking forward getting stuck into campaigning for re election onto council.

Ian had planned to stand for Mayor but dropped out last week endorsing mayoral frontrunner Nobby Clark.
