A house on Collinson Rd between Winton and Invercargill, was destroyed by fire last night (Wednesday May 2nd)

By the time firecrews from Wallacetown and Invercargill arrived the  house had pretty much collapsed.

Farm worker John Shield was left with a new pair of gumboots and the clothes on his back.

No one was hurt and took fire crews several hours to extinguish the blaze.

Fire investigators will be returning to the scene this morning.
