The Southland Sports Car Club’s Evolution Motorsport Clubsport Championship will go down to the wire at Teretonga Park in Invercargill this Sunday.

The top three in the Motorkhana Championship are separated by just 6 points with Stacy Lines leading Liam MacDonald by 5 points and Andrew Kennedy just 1 point further back.

Entries for the motorkhana will be taken from 8.30am on Sunday morning ($25 per driver) and competitors will face three courses and get three timed runs at each. Anyone 12 years old and over can have a go in any car of WOF standard or else use one of two cars available – the Evolution Motorsport Toyota Levin or a Ford Ka for an extra cost of $20.

A lunchtime bbq is available for just $2 for a sausage or pattie and after lunch the final round of the Autocross Championship will take place and the battle is just as close with just 5 points separating the top three – Josh Cooper, Sam Hole and Kent Lines – in a competition which commenced in August.

The Autocross class battles will be just as hard fought. Cooper, Hole and Lines are locked in a battle for Under 1600cc honours while Steve Watson, Andrew Lawrie and Liam MacDonald are fighting out the Over 1600cc class.

Sign in for the autocross is from 12.15pm with the action starting at 1.15pm following an Indian file run. The Autocross entry fee is $40 per person.

Don’t hesitate to contact the club for any information on clubsport or about utilising one of the cars available for the event via the Southland Sports Car Club Clubsport Co-ordinator Malcolm Mitchell at 021 666 956 or [email protected]

Spectators are welcome to come and view the action and find out more about Clubsport. Admission is free.
