Preparations are on target for Christmas In The Bluff which takes place today (Sunday (8 December).
The day consists of a street parade followed by a big gala day at the Oyster Festival site.
Proceedings commence with the Street Parade, this year co-ordinated by Bluff Promotions.
The parade starts at 1pm and will begin at the top end of Gore Street, making its way down Gore Street (SH1) and finishing at the Oyster Festival site where the festivities will be getting under way.
While the parade gets the day up and running there is so much more to Christmas In The Bluff. A full afternoon of gala activities takes place at the Oyster Festival site and of course the star attraction will be Santa who will be in the Santa Grotto for photos.
Meanwhile right around the site there will be plenty for everyone with mini jeeps, facepainting, astroball and a new activity for this year – sumo wrestling!
There are also plenty of games and competitions for the kids while for those slightly older there is a huge number of craft stalls on site, a great time to look for those Christmas presents. Some stalls have eftpos but it is advised to bring cash.
A chocolate wheel will be operating and the Town Crier will be present. There will also be live music and food.
A Decorated Christmas Tree competition is already underway and Bluff residents have an opportunity to check them out and vote for their favourite with a gold coin at the St John Hall in Lee Street during the week leading up to the event while they will also be on display on the day.
Christmas In The Bluff is also supporting Furever Homes this year and there will be a donation table at the Oyster Festival site where you can drop an item or two of cat and/or dog food for the Furever Homes team to look after the animals they have in their care.
Christmas is a family time and Christmas In The Bluff is a family event so you can all come along to Christmas In The Bluff on Sunday – just follow the parade along Bluff’s main street to the Oyster Festival Site.
All proceeds from this year’s event go towards next year’s Christmas In The Bluff.
