Woodlands Loose forward Charles Alaimalo has signed on for his fourth season with the SBS Bank Southland Stags.
Charles, the younger brother of Highlanders’ and fellow Stag Solomon Alaimalo, is looking forward to righting some of the wrongs of last season with the squad. The Stags had one win, with several bonus point losses that were moments and minutes away from victories.
“The opportunity to prove a lot of individuals wrong is exciting and most importantly enjoying it while we’re doing it”.
“Getting to play alongside Solomon is my favourite moment to date in the jersey. He was my role model growing up and playing alongside him and it was always something I dreamed of”, said Alaimalo when reflecting on playing with his older brother and fellow Stag.
With 27 games to date with Southland, he is a key figure in the Stags forward pack.
Forward coach David Hall is pleased with Charles’ commitment.
“He is a big athletic player who can be a dominate a game of rugby. He provides the Stags and Woodlands with some real physicality in the way he plays the game.” Said Hall.
“We are excited to see Charles continue to develop as a person and a player and make this year a memorabile one for himself and the Stags”.
