Celebrity Judge Announced For Rocking With The Stars

Renowned dancer Jonny Williams, of Dancing With The Stars fame, will lend his expertise to an Invercargill charity event.

Williams will join Suzanne Prentice and Raewyn and Gordon Hall on the judging panel for Rocking with the Stars, to be staged at ILT Stadium Southland on October 29. A joint fundraiser for Ronald McDonald Family Room Southland Hospital and the Invercargill Rock n Roll Club, the popular event pairs local celebrities with club members to battle it out on the dance floor.Williams’ impressive talents will also be on display, joining forces with Kristie Boyd to perform two demonstration ballroom dances on the night. The talented couple will be flown south courtesy of House of Travel Lakers and Air New Zealand, and have accommodation provided by the Ascot Park Hotel.After many successes in New Zealand and overseas, Williams turned professional and became a household name performing on 5 seasons of the hit TVNZ show, partnering celebrities such as Angela Bloomfield, Megan Alatini, Miriama Smith, Barbara Kendall and Chrystal Chenery.The NZ Professional New Vogue Champion for the past six years, Williams has performed at many events and, since founding Limelight Dance Studio with Boyd, mentors some of New Zealand’s most talented dancers who routinely return to the studio with national, Australian and South Pacific titles.The duo were international finalists at the Asian Pacific Professional Dancesport Championships in Tokyo and have represented New Zealand in China twice. Williams is a qualified NZ Adjudicator in standard, new vogue and latin who adjudicated at all the major championships, while Boyd is qualified in standard, latin, tap and jazz.Boyd has a plethora of national titles to her credit and has competed extensively around the world in Professional Dancesport, She featured on season five of Dancing With The Stars alongside actor Chris Hobbs and has previously starred on Stars In Their Eyes, Singing Bee and the NZ Variety Show.Tickets for Rocking with the Stars are available from Ticket Direct or ILT Stadium Southland.
