Southland Police were alerted to an accident at Old Coach Road on State Highway 93 in eastern Southland around 2pm where a car has crashed into a power pole.

What we know:

  • Emergency services are at the scene of the serious crash, 8km north of Mataura.
  • Dunedin’s emergency Helicopter is returning to Dunedin hospital
  • Police are yet confirm details yet of how many were involved or their condition
  • The road is closed at Mataura.
  • Fire appliances from Mataura and Gore were at the scene.
