Despite confirmation that New Zealand’s 16 polytechnics will merge into a single entity in 2020, it is business as usual at the Southern Institute of Technology (SIT) from 2020 and beyond.

Students who wish to study at SIT are assured that multi-year programmes are safe to enrol in, with the Government confirming the polytechnic will take enrolments right through to 2023 at this stage.

As New Zealand’s fifth largest Institute of Technology, SIT offers over 250 programmes, ranging from pre-entry certificate to master’s degree qualifications.

These programmes are taught across five campuses (Invercargill, Queenstown, Gore, Christchurch and Auckland), and a wide range of flexible mixed mode delivery options are available through SIT2LRN distance learning faculty.

Next year, in addition to their considerable qualification options, SIT will also offer the Bachelor of Construction with specialisations in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management and Project Management, and the Bachelor of Architectural Technology (both, subject to NZQA approval and accreditation).

Both degrees will be supported by graduate diploma qualifications and will provide prospective students already working within the industry, or those looking for a new qualification in their chosen field, with further options.

SIT will also continue to provide students with affordable education through their innovative Zero Fees Scheme, offered in addition to the Government’s new Fees Free policy given to first time tertiary students for their first year of study (if studying at a tertiary education organisation).

Last year, SIT also launched the Mayor Tim Shadbolt Accommodation Bursaries for Invercargill. All students who are eligible for Fees Free study at their Invercargill campus can apply for shared accommodation at SIT apartments for free, or alternatively, $100 per week for up to 40 weeks as an accommodation bursary, regardless of whether students are living at home or renting in Invercargill.

Finally, if students are looking to study via SIT’s SIT2LRN distance learning portal, SIT have an Early Bird Offer – enrol now for 2020 and save on the $50 administration fee.

For those focused on a new career, SIT can provide the opportunity to not only save thousands of dollars in fees, but also to receive the highest quality of education in the process.
