Building Stronger Relationships Key To Success For The Mortgage Supply Co

It’s been a great year for Mandy Jordan from The Mortgage Supply Co - with the team clocking over 100 contracts in 2024 and the years not over.

Business has been strong because Southlanders are “amazing and resilient” and know that home ownership is a long term game, she said.

“Most are still purchasing for stability and their own asset. Interest rates are back to where they should have been the whole time, and FOMO is back. We've also highlighted to existing clients the value of using a mortgage adviser and they're telling their friends.”

Mandy believes the housing market in Southland is heating up again, and they’re starting to see multi-offers on properties, “which is a great sign, and large numbers of pre-approvals being issued.”

She said they usually notice an influx of listings in January due to people getting their homes ready for the market over Christmas, “so we're getting people pre-approved to pounce. Our rental yield is still strong compared to other parts of New Zealand, and with the tax rules changing on Investors this could be the perfect storm coming for the housing market.”

Mandy loves her job as a mortgage adviser, and not only the clients but the team she works with everyday, the flexibility of hours, “and knowing that every day we’re making a difference.”

Challenges facing the market at present included the turnaround times at banks, with extra pressure on the finance sector blowing out the wait times, she said.

“We can only control what we can control though so pre-approval is back to being king - people need to be ready to go prior to finding the dream home. “

The future looks bright for The Mortgage Supply Co, and now Mandy has a team of six advisers around New Zealand, they are changing their administration model to ensure existing clients get more ongoing support. 

“We're in this for a long term relationship and not just to get the initial lending. Market share through the adviser channel is strong and I believe will get stronger, so we're excited to be ready for even more wonderful clients to come on board.”
