The current location at 98 Gore Street will shut its doors at midday on Thursday, 28 March, and will not be open for Good Friday. However, it will resume service on Saturday, 30 March, from 10 am to 7 pm, with postal services available until 1:30 pm.
The Centre will be closed on Easter Sunday, Easter Monday, and for the Southland Anniversary Day, planning to reopen in its new temporary setting at the Town Hall, 18 Gore St, from noon on Wednesday, 3 April.
Mark Radcliffe, the Customer Services Manager for Invercargill City Council, emphasized that all council functions would be operational at the Town Hall, along with select NZ Post and library services.
However, customers will temporarily be unable to access Kiwibank and Lotto services. Radcliffe assures the community that assistance with online Kiwibank services will be offered to those in need. The full library services and the retail store will also face temporary suspension.
Despite the temporary lack of access to the Bluff Library, residents can still order books from the Invercargill Library to be delivered to the Service Centre’s temporary location.
Radcliffe mentioned that the duration of the Service Centre’s relocation is estimated to be around two weeks, promising updates to the community as they happen. He extends gratitude towards Bluff residents for their patience and understanding during this transition period.
The temporary Service Centre at the Town Hall will operate from 8:30 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday, closing on Saturdays and Wednesday evenings during this interim period.
The following services will NOT be available at the temporary location:
- Bill Payments
- Waka Kotahi

The following NZ Post services will remain available at the temporary location:

- PO Box mail will move to a counter collection service
The street receiver outside the Bluff Service Centre will be closed, but there is a street receiver next to the Bluff Town Hall.
