The Invercargill City Council recently communicated the outcome regarding the future of the Bluff Club Hotel. Jonathan Shaw, the Council’s Group Manager for Consenting and Environment, provided a statement on this matter.
Paula Costello, serving as an independent commissioner, delivered her decision on the Bluff Oyster and Food Festival Charitable Trust’s application. This decision, made on December 1, pertained to the proposed earthworks and demolition of the Bluff Club Hotel. Both the applicant and the relevant parties involved were informed of this decision on the same day.
The Trust has been granted permission to proceed with their plans, but they must comply with several specified conditions. These conditions are part of the agreement to ensure that the project is carried out responsibly and in accordance with local regulations.
Furthermore, there is an appeal period that lasts for 15 working days from the date of the decision. This period ends on January 12, 2024. It’s important to note that due to a legislative statutory closedown, this period extends into the new year. During this time, the Council is restricted from making any further comments or statements regarding this decision.
The appeal period allows for any objections or concerns to be formally raised by interested parties. This is a standard procedure in such matters to ensure that all voices and concerns are heard and considered before finalizing such significant decisions.
