The Mahi Toi Bluff Arts Group held their “Bluff – The Introduction Art Exhibition” at the Lighthouse Gallery in Bluff on Sunday and what an introduction it was!
It was the group’s first event and a large number of people turned out to admire the many examples of artwork on hand and also to check out the wares on sale at the garden market next to the gallery.
Group spokesperson, Chavah Kinloch said, “I am quite amazed and
overwhelmed how receptive people have been to the event. It has been a huge
success and so many travelled from far and wide from outside of Bluff as well as those from Bluff itself to attend. We have had fantastic feedback from the public, the artists and the stallholders. It has been a great response. We will take a breath now and plan our next step for the future.”
The exhibiting artists included promising emerging artists from Bluff including
Vahnija Kinloch, Ema Hoeft-Vi, Damon Lewis and Varnya Jane Brown plus more
established artists such as Jane Gear, Tanya Dann, Alan Harnett, Monica
Toretto and Chavah Kinloch.
The exhibition was designed to showcase some of Southland’s best and
brightest artists and artisans, giving the Mahi Toi Bluff Arts group of creatives the platform to put themselves out there, in their first group art exhibition.
