Sir John Kirwan is bringing the Bledisloe Cup to Invercargill today — and a couple of young players could end up at Eden Park because of it.

Mitey, the children's mental health education organisation, is running two events at separate venues in the city this Monday September 28 as part of its Drive for Five campaign — a nationwide push to raise $5 million and get mental health education into more schools across New Zealand.

First up is a free community event at Pirates Old Boys Rugby Club, Surrey Park, 74 Lithgow Street, starting at 2pm. The public is welcome to come down, meet Kirwan, take part in rugby games, and get up close with the Bledisloe Cup. Kirwan will also pick one or two young winners from the crowd to play in a world-record-attempting Mitey Match at Eden Park in Auckland. The prize includes return flights, one night's accommodation, two tickets to the Bledisloe Cup test on October 10, and a spot in the match itself.

That evening, tickets are available for the Mitey Cocktail Evening at the Langlands, starting at 6pm. Guests join Kirwan and Jono Ridler for a sit-down event with a curated menu and a silent auction of experiences and memorabilia. Tickets are on sale now.

Drive for Five takes its cue from rugby — the idea that everyone playing their part adds up to something bigger. The $5 million target is aimed squarely at expanding Mitey's reach into more schools, giving more children access to structured mental health education.
