Birthday Businesses in Invers

Two business’s that have a significant presence in Invers are marking major milestones this weekend.
Automotive parts company Repco are celebrating 100 years in the automotive game and still going strong.
Repco started in a tin shed in Collingwood Australia and grew in to the Replacement Parts Company. It’s now a major player in the automotive parts industry having over 400 stores across Australia and New Zealand and of course a store right here in Invers.
Included is a remarkable tale of global domination when Repco powered Jack Brabham and Denny Hulme to Formula 1 World Drivers’ Championships in 1966 and 1967, including back-to-back Constructors’ titles thanks to the famous Repco-Brabham combination.
Just across the road a bit another store is celebrating a significant birthday.
The Warehouse ( the warehouse, the warehouse where everyone gets a bargain, remember that jingle?) turns 40 this weekend.
Founder Steven Tindall, now Sir Steven Tindall mapped out his vision for the business on his kitchen table. His initial vision was to make the desirable affordable.
As we know The Warehouse has red sheds from one end of the country to the other.
In a statement, TWG CEO Nic Grayston says from ‘Where everyone gets a bargain’ to ‘Hey, Small Spender!’ our commitment’s been the same – helping Kiwis live better every day. That includes our promise to offer great value at affordable prices, being here for good for our planet, people and communities and paving the way for retail in New Zealand and on global scale.
A point to note, The Warehouse here and around the country has many staff who have been wearing red shirts for over 20 years, in some cases well over 20 years. Longevity!
