Teretonga Park near Invercargill begins it’s 60th year of operation this month and with a massive season ahead over the coming months, this weekend will see a two day event featuring a standing quarter and circuit laps on Saturday followed by a day of racing on Sunday.
Admission for spectators will be free on both days.
Saturday features a Standing Quarter competition at 1.00pm before the circuit is open for laps with all past and present competitors and club volunteers welcome. Scrutineering and documentation commence at 11.00am. At the conclusion of the activities there will a free bbq for entrants which will also be available to other club members and volunteers for a gold coin donation.
On Sunday Noel McIntyre Drainage Clubmans Saloons and Sports and Racing Cars, presented by Downer, will be on track from 10am.
The Clubmans Saloons feature a wide variety of machinery including Keith Macdonald of Dunedin in his Chevy Nova and Boyd Wilson of Invercargill in his NZV8 Falcon while several NZ Six Saloon competitors are entering the event. Add in locals Colin Dawson and Rodger Cunninghame in their Camaro and Mustang respectively, relative newcomer David Crosland of Dunedin in his Nissan Skyline GTR and interesting vehicles such as Tony Mann of Dunedin in his Vauxhall Victor and there should be some enthralling racing.
The Sports & Racing Car field is a small one but a quality one with brothers Damon and Brendon Leitch due to line up on the grid.
