A bitterly cold front has delivered extremely strong winds and squally showers from the early hours of this morning (Tues).

Many Southlanders were probably woken by a strong lightning flash and very low, long and loud thunderclap that followed in the early hours of this morning.

It’s not yet clear the extent of any property damage caused by the strong winds.
