ACTION, GLAMOUR AND FUN AT CUP DAY
It’s Cup Day at Ascot Park Raceway in Invercargill this Saturday with a fantastic programme of harness racing highlighted by the Ascot Park Hotel Invercargill Cup raced over 3200 metres for a stake of $40,000.
The Cup is supported by a programme of ten other top class races with the first timed to start at 1.42pm.
Cup Day also means glamour, fashion and entertainment and once again the Ladies Fashion In The Field this year boasts a prize pool of up to $2000. The winner will walk away with $1000 cash while second will secure $500 and third $150. All finalists will receive a prize.
The Bets In The Bag allows patrons to fill in a coupon from the Southland Times and Southland Express or else grab one on course to go in a draw to win a betting voucher. Six draws will be made throughout the day and should your name be drawn you will have no less than $100 or up to $500 to spend on a race.
Rugby Club’s will fight out their annual Sulky Challenge with a first prize of $500 up for grabs while second and third will also receive prizes.
The children’s entertainment is extensive and free with mini jeeps, a bouncy castle, the Bubble Man, a kiddies tote, guess the lollies in the jar and a free lolly giveaway just part of the fun.
All losing tote tickets prior to race six can be put into a lucky draw for a Level One Restaurant & Bar voucher while Kidz Kartz Racing will be supported by the Robin Dundee Club and Ryal Bush Transport.
In short it is an event for everyone. The first race is scheduled for 1.42pm and admission is free!
