An intense trough is expected to move east over New Zealand late today, bringing strong west to southwesterly gales to the northern parts of the North Island from tonight into Monday morning, and westerly gales about coastal Southland and Clutha including Stewart Island during the same period.
Strong westerly gales are also expected about the Tararua District and Hawkes Bay south of Hastings from late Monday morning to Monday evening. The Strong Wind Watch for Northland and Auckland north of Harbour Bridge has been upgraded to a full Warning.
People in these areas are advised to keep up to date with the latest forecasts in case parts of this Watch are upgraded to a full Warning or further areas are added.
