Members of the Invercargill Army Unit are holding a training exercise tomorrow afternoon.
Unit spokesman 2nd Lieutenant Paul McCulloch says it will be all go in-spite of the recent wet weather.
Paul McCulloch says about 20 soldiers from Invercargill as well as soldiers from Dunedin and Cromwell will be taking part.
He says exercises like this are a great way to attract new members to the unit which they are keen to do.
Paul McCulloch says joining up with a unit like the Invercargill Unit is a great way to broaden anyone’s skill sets particularly leadership skills.
He says the Army can provide great career options, the further you go up through the ranks, the more opportunities there are.
People interested (male and female ) have to 18 and over to join but can go through the process while still aged 17 and it’s not just for young folk, older people can join up but there are a few more medical hoops to go through.
The Invercargill unit hold training sessions every Monday night 6.30pm – 9pm at the Army Centre on Fox St. Call them on 03 2187309
By the way, the soldiers on tomorrow’s (Sat) exercise will be carrying firearms.
