Another Power Outage In Invercargill CBD This Morning, Cause Unknown
Third major power outage in 8 weeks.
At approximately 10.34am, Friday 19 July we experienced temporary power outages at our Leven Street Substation, resulting in a temporary loss of Power supply in the Invercargill CBD and Bond and Mersey Streets.
PowerNet employees were completing routine switching when two inner city circuit breakers inadvertently opened which caused a temporary power outage on the Electricity Invercargill Ltd network. Power supply was lost to 799 customers with power restored to all customers by 10.43am.
The cause of the outage is unknown at this stage and is currently being investigated by our technical team. We are aware of the importance of power supply to our customers and apologize for the inconvenience.
The safety and well-being of our employees and the community are our first priorities when working on restoring electricity the networks we manage.
