With fantastic weather and a decent crowd, the yearly Steampunk Teapot Racing event presented by What’s On Invers, held on Sunday near the band rotunda in Queens Park was deemed a success. Lots of fun for all ages.

Eight entrants were ready and waiting at 2pm for the event to kick off, with an exciting array of contraptions lined up at the start line.

If it wasn’t the teapot-style vehicles that impressed onlookers, then it was undoubtedly the Steampunk garb of the participants that did.

Entrants, their families and members of the Southern Society of Steampunk Steamologists all dressed up for the occasion, and the event was hosted and MC’d by Miss Bustlebottom (Angela Gibbs), and Baron von Boris (Barry McIntosh).

Competition was stiff, but Pat Blair was the winner of the Best Overall Vehicle, while the Most Entertaining Attempt title went to Duncan with his Cookie Monster tank and the most Rapid Completion title went to Marty RatCattea. Also worthy of mention is the children of Montessori School, who turned out in style, much to the delight of the crowds, with their teacher, Jamie.
