The 2025 Bachelor of Screen Arts Showcase was held last week at Te Rau o te Huia, highlighting the best of the year’s work from SIT’s creative students.

The multi-faceted event brought together concept art, animation, film, and game design on the one day for the ‘last hurrah’ of the year, showcasing the work produced by all strands within the Bachelor of Screen Arts programme.

The Exhibition and Creator Con took place at SIT’s Centre for Creative Industries on Thursday, 20 November, from 11:00am to 3:00pm, showcasing an impressive array of student work spanning from certificate level through to graduate diploma projects.

In the church space, the event expanded further with additional stalls from Creator Con, alongside an exciting display of concept art, sculptures, costumes, games, and comics created by students from across all year levels.

Joint Programme Manager for the School of Screen Arts, Rachel Mann, said this area highlighted the breadth of creativity within the programme, offering visitors a chance to immerse themselves in diverse forms of artistic expression.

A special feature was the showcase of the first-year students’ second bootcamp game project, where they worked collaboratively to produce not only a fully functioning game but also its marketing materials and a behind-the-scenes documentary — all achieved in under two weeks.

Ms Mann added that many of the HyFlex students (who study off campus) joined them in Invercargill for the event, adding to the lively and collaborative atmosphere.

Each graduate diploma and third-year degree student hosted their own booth at Creator Con, giving visitors the chance to speak directly with them about their creative projects, explore the ideas behind their work, and even purchase merchandise developed from their project branding.

Later in the day, The Flix was held at SIT Centrestage on Don Street from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, where the audience enjoyed a diverse selection of films and animations created by students.

“Together, these events offered a rich celebration of creativity, innovation, and student achievement across multiple disciplines,” Ms Mann noted.

At the end of the night, there was also a celebratory prize-giving recognising the many accomplishments of this year's student group.
