Ammonia Leak At Alliance Lorneville Meat Plant

Fire and Emergency is in attendance at an ammonia leak at a the Alliance Lorneville meat plant on Crowe Road, just out of Invercargill. There are five crews and a command unit at the scene.District Manager Julian Tohiariki asks people in the immediate area to please stay inside and keep all windows and doors closed as a precaution.3:15pm Update:Crews are making sure all leaks are isolated and are dispersing and diluting the gas cloud associated with the leak.While this is underway, people in the immediate area are asked to continue to stay indoors and keep their doors and windows closed as a precaution.
