The partnership includes financial support to boost a wide range of initiatives. These include grassroots and school programmes, pathways for young players, referee and coach development, and elite player advancement. It will also help provide equipment, increase rugby visibility and support regional representative teams from U16 upwards.

“We are very excited to be entering into this groundbreaking partnership with Allied Petroleum and Rugby Southland,” said Paul Thompson, Commercial Manager at Otago Rugby. “The three organisations have true southern values and want to see our communities and teams succeed both on and off the field.”

From first kicks to senior club players, Rugby Southland and Otago Rugby welcome participants of all ages and backgrounds. Their work every weekend brings the game to life in schools, clubs and communities across the South, helping players not only develop their skills on the field, but also learn key life skills like teamwork and leadership.

Allied Petroleum General Manager Mat Reynen said, “This partnership is about more than rugby—it’s a celebration of our roots and our commitment to giving back to the Southern region that supported us from the start.”
