Alex Lindsay Scholarship Recipient Named

The 2018 Alex Lindsay Memorial Scholarship has been awarded to Donald Thomson, 19, from Invercargill.

Donald, currently a Southern Institute of Technology student, is planning to continue his violin studies and achieve his LTCL.

Donald is a former James Hargest College student.

The Alex Lindsay Memorial Scholarship, which contributes $1000 towards further study for the recipient, honours Alex Lindsay, a distinguished violinist, conductor, orchestra leader and concert master of the NZBC Symphony Orchestra (now known as the NZ Symphony Orchestra).

Alex Lindsay was born in Invercargill and educated at Southland Boys’ High School.
