Invercargill racing driver Alex Crosbie tackles Round 3 of the F4 US Championship at New Jersey Motorsports Park in Millville New Jersey this weekend.
Crosbie returns to the United States fresh from his first podium in the series last time out at Mid-Ohio in June.
The goal for this round is to get on the pace a little quicker as Crosbie has been fast in the races during the opening two rounds but unfamiliarity with the circuits has meant it has taken a little time to learn the layouts and get up to speed.
“I was happy with the podium at the last round but I am still looking to get on the pace a bit earlier in the weekend,” Alex said from Invercargill last week before heading to America.
“I have been watching videos of the circuit and my initial thoughts are that it is quite fast and flowing with not too many heavy braking zones which will be good in the F4 chassis.”
The other goal for Alex this weekend is to have three good races. Neither of his previous weekends in the championship have gone completely smoothly. “I want to have a weekend with no issues and just be consistent throughout.”
The series will use the circuit’s Thunderbolt Course, a 2.25 mile, 12 turn road course and the F4 US Championship competitors will take part in two twenty-minute practice sessions on Friday (local time) before a twenty-minute qualifying session and the first race of the round on Saturday. Sunday will see two further races, all three races over the weekend fought out over a thirty-minute duration.
This round marks the midpoint of the five-round championship.
Alex competes in the F4 US Championship with Crosslink / Kiwi Motorsport and his American campaign is supported by Golden Homes in the Southern Lakes. He also acknowledges the support of his parents for his racing.
